The Ian Fays — Everyday Airplanes

Look at all these nerds back in 2006 at an Ian Fays show at the Hemlock Tavern in SF! I hardly recognize myself. In about a month after this picture was taken, I moved to Chicago and shit got weird/depressing/hard/challenging/not as much as it ever was in (and is) in California.

One summer when I was visiting home during that three year stint in Chicago, which is in fact the Bay Area, the Ian Fays were playing a show at the Hotel Utah; my friends Landon, Josh and I went. I had a Taqueria Cancun burrito for the first time ever and thought it was the most amazing burrito of my life. About an hour later I regurgitated said burrito outside the Hotel Utah, between two cars, in front of friends that I had hadn’t seen in years because when it comes down to it, you can’t take me anywhere.

I had to get on BART the next morning, with a massive hangover and I think food poisoning, to meet back up with my parents, to drive the hour and half to my grandparent’s house to celebrate my 27th birthday. Starting the day off on the right foot is my forte!

By nighttime all my ails had passed, because being in your 20’s is the awesomest, best.

I still totally eat at Taqueria Cancun, it’s delicious and worth being uncomfortable (i.e having the runs on a very long trip) the next day for.

I’m sure being sick the next day had nothing to do with the tremendous amount of day drinking done in Oakland before the show.

Lena Fay gave this to me on my 30th birthday. And I’m 31 in two months. It’s aged. (Taken with Instagram at Haight Ashbury)
It’s delicious! Maybe the secret to the PBR 40oz is keeping it your room, unopened for 10 months.
